Geboren: Marc Soen, Moorslede 01-06-1954.
Middelbare studies: Roeselare 1966-1972.
1968: Academie Roeselare tot 1970.
1968: Schildert en speelt toneel in Moorslede tot 1973.
1972: Groepsexpositie in Roeselare.
1973: Vertrekt naar Gent, opleiding regentaat 'Plastische Kunsten' maar kan studies niet combineren met werk. Start 'Schilderen' in avondlessen aan stedelijke Academie Gent tot 1976. (les van Nadine Van Lierde en Jacques 't Kint).
1978: 'Vrije Grafiek' in avondlessen aan Sint-Lucasinstituut te Gent tot 1981. (oa les van Etienne Kerkhof)
1982: Toneel en dictie aan de muziekacademie te Ledeberg tot 1986.
1986: Speelt toneel bij diverse amateurgezelschappen waaronder het Multatuliteater en figureert onder andere in Theater Arena, series voor TV en enkele films. In 1991 start hij het Multatuliteater terug op en blijft voorzitter tot 2008.
2012: Begint opnieuw te schilderen en start in 2014 de reeks 'Leed is nooit geleden' tot 2018, verwijzend naar de eerste wereldoorlog.
2015: Werkt mee aan de tentoonstelling POST MORTEM, Vesalius tussen kunst en wetenschap van UGent. De tentoonstelling inspireert hem tot het maken van de reeks 'Post Mortem', een drieluik in gemengde technieken : acryl, gesso, inkt en papier op multiplex.
2016: Een reeks portretten van Herbert, met een knipoog naar theater.
2017: Een reeks personages uit 'De Meeuw' van Anton Tsjechov gebracht door Theater La Barraca Gent.
2017: Reeks waarin hij zijn theatrale personages laat vervagen in een abstractie van de omgeving om uiteindelijk te verdwijnen en één te worden met diezelfde abstracte omgeving.
"Als ik naar mijn werk kijk voel ik mij een tijdreiziger die verloren loopt in de toekomst. Maar zonder angst, eerder met verwondering waardoor ik steeds maar verder naar de grenzen van de tijd op zoek ga."

1968: Paints and plays theater in Moorslede until 1973.
1972: Group exhibition in Roeselare.
1973: Leaves for Ghent, education regency 'Plastic Arts' but cannot combine studies with work. Start 'Painting' in evening classes at the Ghent Municipal Academy until 1976. (lesson with Nadine Van Lierde and Jacques 't Kint).
1978: 'Free Graphics' in evening classes at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Ghent until 1981. (including class by Etienne Kerkhof)
1982: Theater and elocution at the music academy in Ledeberg until 1986.
1986: Plays stage with various amateur companies, including the Multatuliteater and appears in Theater Arena, series for TV and a few films. In 1991 he restarts the Multatuliteater and remains chairman until 2008.
2012: Starts painting again and in 2014 starts the series 'Sad is never suffered' until 2018, referring to the first world war.
2015: Contributes to the exhibition POST MORTEM, Vesalius between art and science at Ghent University. The exhibition inspired him to create the 'Post Mortem' series, a triptych in mixed media: acrylic, gesso, ink and paper on plywood.
2016: A series of portraits by Herbert, with a nod to theatre.
2017: A series of characters from 'De Meeuw' by Anton Chekhov performed by Theater La Barraca Gent.
2017: Series in which he allows his theatrical characters to fade into an abstraction of the environment to eventually disappear and become one with that same abstract environment.
